EXPERIENCE THE HIDDEN GEMS OF VODENA DRAGA AND KARLOVAC
Wake up to the sound of birdsong, breathe in the fresh forest air, and feel the calm of the Croatian countryside. At Meraki Nature Camp, your stay is more than just a holiday — it’s a journey into nature, simplicity, and connection. From untouched landscapes and wild rivers to local traditions and hidden places, this region invites you to slow down and explore with all your senses.
LOCAL TIPS & NEIGHBORHOOD
Even in nature, you’re not far from what you need. Every morning between 7:00 and 8:00, a little white bread van drives through the village. Simply wave it down, and you can buy Croatian bread right at the road.
Prefer a ready-made breakfast? You can order a fresh breakfast from us (15 euro per person), made with local ingredients and lots of love. You can request any dietary needs.
The closest mini-markets are just 5–10 minutes away by car. For larger supermarkets, head to Duga Resa or Karlovac — both reachable in under 30 minutes.

PICNIC BASKETS & SPECIAL MOMENTS
Planning a day out or a lazy afternoon in the grass?
You can rent a picnic basket with homemade bites and local treats from us — perfect for a riverside lunch. The price is 50 euro, please request this 2 days before.
SCENIC HIKING, BIKING & NATURAL WONDERS
The hills and trails around Vodena Draga are perfect for outdoor lovers. Walk along the villages of the Dobra River, with wildflowers, old lindens, and a beautiful historic bridge. For more adventure, cycle the Karlovac Forest Loop — a moderate ride through rolling hills and woodland views. The Družac Mountain Trail rewards hikers with breathtaking panoramas.
Explore local caves and springs, where crystal-clear water bubbles up from underground rivers. Some of Europe’s cleanest drinking water flows right through this area — including directly beneath our village! Bring your bottle and fill up at nature’s tap.
HISTORY & CULTURE
Just a short drive from Meraki, the Frankopan Castle in Bosiljevo tells stories of Croatia’s medieval past. The hidden ruins of Steljnik Castle offer a quieter, more intimate look into history. In Karlovac, the lively Friday Flea Market is a great place to meet locals and discover vintage treasures and handmade goods. Don’t miss the Nikola Tesla Experience Center — a tribute to one of the world’s greatest minds.
And if you’re up for a day trip, the UNESCO-listed Plitvice Lakes are only 80 km away. Their emerald waterfalls and wooden walkways are a must-see.
LOCAL FLAVOURS & HANDMADE GOODS
We’ll happily share our favorite local spots for goat cheese, honey, herbal balms, and fresh-picked vegetables. Some essentials are also available at Meraki itself. Want to take a taste of the countryside home with you? Just ask us. We will provide you a list of all the local small businesses and farmers
For meals out, we recommend places like Mrežnica Kuća, Kaštel Bistro, Zeleni Kut, Motel Dobra, and Restaurant DP — all nearby and full of local flavor.

WATER ADVENTURES
Four rivers go through our region, making it perfect for swimming, SUP, canoeing or kayaking. Equipment can be rented with us or at trusted nearby spots. Whether you want a peaceful paddle or a splash with the kids, the Mrežnica and Dobra Rivers offer some of the clearest water in Croatia.
RELAXATION & RETREAT
Meraki is a place to slow down. Spend your days reading in a hammock, stretching in the morning sun, or meditating under the trees. Whether you’re here for rest, recovery, or reconnection — this peaceful spot helps you breathe a little deeper.
PHOTOGRAPHY SESSIONS
Capture your time in Croatia with a magical photo session. Family portraits, couples, elopements, or self-love shoots — all are possible right here at Meraki, surrounded by nature’s beauty. Photographer Marit de la Vera is available on site to create timeless images during your stay.
WORKSHOPS & WILDCRAFTING
Throughout the season, we offer workshops that bring you closer to nature and creativity. Think wild plant walks, herbal tea-making, foraging, natural dyeing, and ceramic sessions. It’s a chance to learn, connect, and create — for both kids and adults.
